Abstract

InMusiHydropowerHeat Exchangeris usedto cool thegenerator. As we know, the generatorisavitalcomponentin a generation electricity wire. The function of the generatoris converting mechanical energy from the turbineinto electrical energy. Generators in every day user equirecool in order toextend service life. Due to extremely high operating temperature scan cause damage to the generator components. The importance ofthe effectiveness oftheheatexchangeris happeningistolook atthe performance ofthe groundheatexchanger. Data obtainedasinlet and outlet watertemperature(Tc,inandTc,out), oil temperaturelog(Th,inandTh,out) and theflowof waterandoilflow capacity(QcandQh) is used tocalculate theeffectiveness of theheatexchanger. In calculating theheatexchangereffectiveness, there is some valueto looklikeDensity(ρ), specific heat(Cp), the mass flow rate( ṁ cand ṁ h), the realheat transfer(Q), the maximum possibleheat transfer(Qmax), the coefficientheat transferto thewaterandoil(Cc andCh) and thelastsearcheffectiveness (ε). The results ofcalculation of heat exchange reffectivenessis happening atunit 1MusiHydropower of UjanMasKepahiang, can be consideredto be ineffectiveand inefficient, asheatexchangersworkeffectivelyunderstateorin other words theheatexchangeris not workingproperlyin accordancewith the(far fromthe boundaries ofnormal). This is because themaintenanceand repair ofheatexchangersmade farfrom perfect. Keywords: Effectiveness, Heat Exchangers, Heat Transfer
