Abstract
Appropriate technology is technology used in accordance with the conditions of technology needed. Appropriate technology gives the positive impactin terms of energy savings. One of the appropriate technologiesis Hydraulic Ram Pump.Hydraulic Ram Pump is a pump that works without using fuel orelectrical energy. This pump works by using the power of water itsself. In terms of costandusage, this pump is very efficient and pro health environment. There are many things that can affect the performance of Hydraulic Ram Pump one of them is the volume of the tube and the distance of waste valve that can besearched and the value of maximum efficiency that can be known. In this study, air chamber was varied into 0.0006 m3, 0.0013 m3, 0.0027 m3, and 0,004 m3,where as the distance of waste valve wasvaried into 10 cm, 15 cm, and 20 cm. From the results of testing data, it was obtained the maximum efficiency 23.29% on the tube with the tube volume of 0.0027 m3 and the distance of waste valve was 10 cm, while the lowest efficiency was obtained on the tube volume of 0.0006 m3 and the distance of waste valve was 20 cm with the value of 7.76%.
