Abstract

In the world of industrial, heat exchanger is needed as a coolant. This is because the tool or machine that does work very much can lead to heat too long will lead to over-heat the engine coolant if not given machine or heat exchanger. The purpose of this study was to quantify the effectiveness of heat exchanger and utilize software as a tool maintenance on the heat exchanger This research method is made by taking data on hydropower heat exchanger of Ujan Mas, Kepahiang Regency, is to find values to the temperature of cold fluid and hot fluid both output and input. It also required that the data flow and pressure in the heat exchanger. data obtained is processed to obtain the value of the heat exchanger effectiveness. The data also will be processed or simulated by software make use of the final results will be used as a reference for maintenance work on the heat exchanger. From the calculation of the heat exchanger effectiveness values obtained under ideal conditions, is 55.15%. While the actual conditions obtained for unit 1 by 32.74%, unit 2 by 24.58% and unit 3 at 32.70%. While the results of the software if the log LE = 34.7 assumptions taken as optimum operational limits and the heat exchanger when the lower 10% there of (3.123) is taken as the limit for decision making by improving care system. The lower LE value of Log LE = 3.123 advised to be taken maintenance for the heat exchanger
