Abstract
Plastic waste is organic waste whose notorious characteristic is long-term durability with respect to its difficulty to dissolve and merge with soil. Plastic waste has become a growing concern due to its environmental impact. One of its solutions is through a recycling program integrated into a production process of plastic, a kind of stationary process to detain its booming waste volume or maintain it in a constant volume level. The objective of this research is to contribute to one step of the process especially in terms of its inventory management so that the process become more efficient and can increase financially its business value. More specific this research aims at developing an inventory model at the level of small business layer recycling the plastic waste to be plastic fragments and at the level of post-small business layer producing plastic packages using materials of the plastic fragments. The former focuses on obtaining economic product quantity of the plastic fragments through inventory modeling and the latter stresses on inventory-based production planning of the plastic packages for some future periods through dynamic programming approach. So far both studies has resulted in achieving the objectives with respect to their own case data.
