Abstract
The research was purposed to to know the population growth rate of some worm species(Lumbricus rubellus, Pheretima sp, Pontoscolex corethrurus), the time used for formation vermicompost, and the C/N ratio of palm press fiber compost and vermicompost. The research used Completelly Randomized Design with three treatments and six replications. The results of the research showed that each treatment showed significantly difference in the average of population growth. The species with highest population growth rate was Lumbricus rubellus with the average of 1.31 individuals/day, followed by Pheretima sp with the average of 1.14 individuals/day, and the lowest was Pontoscolex corethrurus with the average of 0.90 individual/day. The time used for formation by vermicompost 50% was Lumbricus rubellus 8 (eight) weeks, Pheretima sp 9 (nine) weeks and Pontoscolex corethrurus 12 (twelve) weeks. The measurement of C/N ratio of Lumbricus rubellus’s vermicompost was 12, C/N ratio of Pheretima’s sp vermicompost and Pontoscolex corethrurus’s vermicompost were 14 respectively.
