Abstract

This study aimed at finding out the communicative activities implemented by English teachers in teaching English at grade eleventh of SMAN 2 Kota Bengkulu and the communicative activity frequently implemented by English teachers in teaching english at grade eleventh of SMAN 2 Kota Bengkulu. This study used quantitative method to collect and analyze data. The subject of the research was the English teachers who were teaching english subject at SMAN 2 Kota Bengkulu. There were two English teachers teaching English subject at grade eleventh of Senior High School. The intruments used in this research were observation checklist. The findings of this research were: (1) there were thirteen types of communicative activities that were used by English teachers in teaching English at grade eleventh of SMAN 2 Kota Bengkulu, they were; questions and answer, discussion, dialogue, situational practice, retelling, translation, information gap, simulation, brainstorming, interview, story completion, reporting, and class survey. (2) Communicative activity that was mostly used by teachers in teaching English at grade eleventh of SMAN 2 Kota Bengkulu was question and answer activity.
