Abstract
This study deals with the correlation between Listening and Speaking Abilities. The population of the study was The Sixth Semester Students of English Study Program at University of Bengkulu in academic year at 2018/2019 with total number 79 students distributed into 2 classes and the sample of this research was 38 students. The object in this research was to find out whether there is a correlation between Listening and speaking abilities. The alternative hypothesis: “There is correlation between Listening and speaking abilities”. Instruments for data collection were the listening test and the speaking for presentation scores. In analyzing the data, the researcher was used correlation “r” product moment calculation. The result of manual calculation of correlation “r” product moment showed that the correlation between listening and speaking abilities was weak categorized (r=0.396). Based on the research finding, it indicated that HO (there is not positive correlation between listening and speaking abilities) was rejected and Ha (there is a correlation between listening and speaking abilities) was accepted. It meant that listening less influenced the speaking abilities of The Sixth Semester Students of English Study Program at University of Bengkulu. Keywords: Correlation, Listening, Speaking Abilities.
