Abstract

Bengkulu City is very prone areas to earthquakes. Selebar Sub-district in Bengkulu City is the densest population area. This sub-district has the largest population growth rate compared to other sub-districts. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the structure of the rock layer in Selebar district to be able to determine which areas are likely to be damaged by the impact of an earthquake in order to reduce the risk of disasters. This research aims to determine the structure of rock layers based on shear wave velocity (Vs), Poisson’s ratio, shear modulus, and Young's modulus in Selebar Sub-district, Bengkulu City. This research was conducted at 12 data measurement points. It used PASI 16S24 P geophone seismograph with the MASW (Multichannel Analysis of Surface Wave) method. The data process used win.MASW5.0 Professional. The results showed that Selebar Sub-district consists of 4 rock types including SE (soft soil), SD (stiff soil), SC (very dense soil and soft rock), and SB (rock). The highest value is at the eleventh location with a value of Vs 255-985 m/s, Poisson’s ratio of 0.40-0.30, shear modulus of 126-2137 MPa, and Young's modulus of 353.25-5.549.99 MPa at a depth of 1.3- 30 meters in rock type (SB) in Sukarami Village. While the smallest value is at the second location point with a value of Vs 159-491 m/s, Poisson’s ratio of 0.40-0.30 shear modulus of 46-490 MPa, and Young's modulus of 129.51-1272.68 (MPa) at a depth of 0.8-30 meters in rock type (SE) in Betungan Village.
