Abstract

This research was aimed at finding the effect of using Edmodo on students‘ writing skill of recount text. This research employed a pre-experimental design and quantitative research method. The subjects of this research was a class named experiment class, consist of ten students. There were two test in form of writing recount text essay type, pre and post-test to measure students‘ writing skill before and after using Edmodo as the treatment. The writing test result data performed by the students were analyzed by using writing scoring rubric adapted from Jacob then analyzed in IBM SPSS 24 as a Paired sample test. The result showed in pre-test 1 student (10,0%) got 35, 1 student (10,0%) got 45, 2 students (20,0%) got 55, 2 students (20,0%) got 60, 1 student (10,0%) got 65, and 3 students (30,0%) got 70. The result of post-test showed a significant progress. There was 1 student (10,0%) got 60, two students (20,0%) got 70, 1 student (10,0%) got 75, 1 students (10,0%) got 80, 4 students (40,0%) got 85, and 1 student (10,0%) got 90. In paired sample t test, the (sig.(2-tailed) of the obtained statistics is 0, 000 less than 0,05. It was indicating that the null hyphothesis (H0) could be rejected and alternative (Ha) could be accepted. It can be concluded that there was a significant effect on students‘ writing skill of recount text after using Edmodo. Key words: Writing skill, recount text, edmodo.
