Abstract

This study describes the activities and percentages of teacher professional development activities which have been followed by professional English teachers at 3 Top Public Senior High Schools in Bengkulu City. The study used a descriptive quantitative in the form of survey 10 professional English teachers. An adapted questionnaire is used in collecting the data consisting 35 items number and used a Linkert scale. The results of the study show that there were 14 activities that professional English teachers have been followed in their professionalism activities. In professional development activities, there were 3 activities such as training, seminar, and workshop education activities, participated in teacher subject consultation activities (MGMP), and subscribed English education contents (Journals, video paid learning, etc). In scientific publication activities, there were 5 activities such as disseminated of scientific work or being a speaker in a scientific forum, did educational research, published research results, published innovative ideas, and published research result (book, education module, education journal form). Lastly, in innovative work activities, there were followed 6 activities such as developed learning models and evaluation, created a literature collection by students in English, published literaly works made by the teacher (novels, drama scripts, picture books, specialized dictionaries, songs, short stories, etc), used internet or multimedia tools in learning process, participated in RPP guidelines preparation, and participated in compiled the question grid guidelines preparation activities. Then, the persentages of each 3 core activities have been followed by professional English teachers were in individual development activities is 48%, in scientific publication activities is 22%, and in innovative work activities is 30%.
