Abstract

Teaching practicum is the final lesson learning for teacher trainee education major of a University. Teaching practicum is a place for the students teacher to implement their theoretical knowledge at the University. In here the students teacher are given around 2 month to do the teaching practice. The students teacher face the real class, situation, and students in the practicum. They also do the duty as a teacher. Since they don’t have any experience about teachership before, they might have found difficulties. Moreover, the students teacher are going to be a teacher in the future so they need to be qualified in the teacher competencies aspects. Therefore, the researcher took for analysing the difficulties faced by students teacher in pedagogical and professional aspects because it was related more to the teaching directly. This study used descriptive qualitative as the research design and used thematic analysis to order the data. The participants were students teacher who were doing teaching practicum and English teachers at SMP N 10 Bengkulu City. Therefore, this research was categorizes as single case study with the research period around December 2021-January 2022. The result this study was triangulated in order to make the data valid. Briefly, there were the difficulties findings of this research : 1. The difficulties on pedagogical aspects consist of : Understanding students characteristic, Identifying students potential, Identifying students’ learning difficulties, Understanding some theories relevant to teaching and learning, Determining the students mastery based on the result and evaluation, Providing a variety of learning activity ( learning extra ). 2. The difficulties on professional aspects consist of : Mastering English branch of sciences. In the conclusion, in this study it was found that ¼ indicated as difficulties findings from the all indicators of competencies on pedagogical and professional aspects.
