Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out the processes of word formation that occur in The Jakarta Post editorial website version and conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The theory used in this research is the theory of word formation by George Yule (2017). The corpus of the data of this research was the editorial section in The Jakarta Post website version, moreover, the samples of the research were seven editorials in The Jakarta Post website version which published from September 30th 2021 to December 4th 2021. The main instrument of this research was documentation. The result of this research showed that there were 42 data of borrowing, 9 data of compounding, 3 data of back formation, 1 datum of conversion, 6 data of acronym, 38 data of derivation, and 5 data of multiple processes. It can be concluded that there were 7 (seven) types of word formation encountered in seven different editions of The Jakarta Post editorial website version. Furthermore, there is no coinage, clipping, and blending were found in the editorial section in The Jakarta Post website version. Keywords: Editorial; The Jakarta Post; word formation
