Abstract

This research aimed to find out the types of grammatical errors in oral presentation of the result thesis seminar made by English students and to investigate the causes of errors. This research used descriptive qualitative as the research design. The object of this research were five students’ recording of the result thesis seminar in English education study program at Bengkulu University. The instruments of this research were documentation checklist and interview. The data were collected by using documentation and interview. The result of the Documentation Checklist showed there were four types of grammatical error made by English students which were omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. The highest error was Omission. The result of the interview indicated the causes of error that made by English students were carelessness, first language interference, and translation. The highest cause of error was first language interference. Based on the findings, all the students have to pay attention in the use of correct grammar in oral presentation of the result thesis seminar.
