Abstract

This research aimed to find out the students‟ ability in using relative pronouns at the 5 th -semester English education study program of the University of Bengkulu. This research used a descriptive quantitative method. The population of this research was the 5th-semester students in academic year 2022/2023 with 94 students as the sample. The data of the research were collected using a test consisted of 30 words with 3 types of questions such as multiple-choice, cloze, and combining two sentences. Based on the data analysis, the researcher concluded that the students‟ ability in using relative pronoun was classified as low with a total average score of 57.8. In addition, among five relative pronouns, “whom” with a score of 47 and “that” with a score of 48 became the most difficult for the students as it was classified as very low.
