BENDY SUNARTA. 2017. Child labor in the informal sector: case studies of child laborers still in school in Bengkulu City. Undergraduate program of Bengkulu University. This study aims to (1) describe child laborers working in the informal sector who still have school status in Bengkulu City. Kota Bengkulu is one of the places where child labor in the informal sector. Unmarried children are involved in the workforce but are already involved in the world of work. (2) The background of child labor is employed because of family economic factors, low parental education factors, and their own willingness to buy what they want. (3) Working children do not have equal opportunities with other children in terms of education and association. Selection of informants based on snowball sampling technique. Data collection using interview techniques, observation, and documentation. Data analysis is done simultaneously with the data collection process using qualitative research data analysis techniques which include data collection, data presentation, data reduction, and data verification to get the conclusion in the research. The findings in the field of child labor in this research are child worker seller of cracker, plastic bag seller, seller of newspaper which each different place of sale location. Child labor also differs in the background of working children, working because of family economic factors the income of parents can not meet the needs of their families maximally but there are also child laborers working due to environmental factors when seeing their friends can make money to encourage children to work. the income of working children is different, some are in the tube, and there is also to buy food or goods they want, they work on their own behalf. Keywords: Child labor in the informal sector, working because of economic factors, works on its own.
