This study aims to describe some aspects of the condition of the people who still go to the shaman, the tradition of treatment to shamans, the meaning of healthy and sick villagers, the shamans expertise in each community, the role of uncle and the treatment process by shamans and herbal medicine used for the patient. These aspects are obtained based on qualitative research methods so that used the method of observation, interview and documentation to collect data. It will then be analyzed using Peter L. Berger's social construction theory. The findings of the field describe that the condition of the Tunggang Village community is geographically located on the cross road of Sumatra, BengkuluPadang. Ethnically there are similarities with Minang so that the historical community Tunggang, ancestors came from Minang Pesisir. The settlement pattern of the population follows the stream of river and has a protected forest as a storage of medicinal plants so there are still traditions passed down by the special ancestors associated with traditional medicine. In the process of treatment, there are traditions related to treatment to a shaman such as carrying sirih seceno, attention and prayer for recovery. Prior to carrying out the tradition, the public has an understanding of the condition of the body that is classified as healthy and sick as determined by the recognition of values and norms so that someone called sick if the condition of the body is disturbed, meet the healer (shaman) and use the medicine. The shamans in Tunggang Village are 7 (seven) types and in each clan there are each people. When there is one member of the community who is sick then he must be escorted by relatives mamak because relatives are part of the uncle treatment system. The role of relatives in the health aspects of determining where to seek and seek herbs. The herbs will be formulated by a shaman and used for the patient. Drug mixing, determining abstinence, doing diagnosis, prayer and thank good is the role of shaman in the treatment process while the drug used can be orange (various types of oranges), coconut, turmeric and so on Keywords: Traditional medicine, community tradition, role of uncle, role of shaman, public trust.
