Abstract
Calculation of the b-value for the Sumatra-Andaman region have been carried out and analyzed. The study area is broken down into 64 regions in more detail, analyzed to monitor the crust activity. This study aims to investigate the bvalue distribution of the Sumatra earthquake catalog 1977 to 2019 and also helps to understand the statistical seimology for monitor the crustal activity in SumatraAndaman region. This research Temporal variation of the b-value was observed through 9,034 earthquakes in the Sumatra-Andaman region during the period 1977 to 2019. The earthquake distribution was analyzed using the GutenbergRichter equation (1954) which was adjusted for the seismic level with a magnitude ≥ 4.5 Mw and deep of 300km. Determination of seismotemic parameters (b-value) was calculated and analyzed temporal distribution and spatial distribution. The temporal distribution the b-value for earthquakes from 64 study data locations ranges from 0.482 to 2.725. The spatial distribution examining how the condition of the crustal in the research area has affected the observed change in b-value, this geographical distribution serves as the baseline for crustal monitoring. A low b-value score will be displayed in areas where stress levels have significantly increased. Keyword: b-value, crustal activity, Sumatra-Andaman Earthquakes.
