Abstract

Air Alas Water Dam is located in Rantau Panjang village, Alas Maras Semidang district, Seluma regency in Bengkulu province. This water dam is used by villagers for irrigation purposes. The purpose of this research is to determine the rate of sediment transport from the Air Alas Water Dam which enters the sand trap then evaluates the dimensions of the sand trap from the results of the sediment rate. The methods used are the Shen And Hungs method and the Meyer Petter Muller Method. The calculation results using the Shen And Hungs method, obtained the value of the sediment flow rate in the sand trap of 0.343 tons / day, while using the Meyer Petter Muller method obtained the value of the sediment flow rate in the sand trap was 60.083 tons / day. So that the Meyer Peter Muller method used for planning the dimensions of sand traps based on the highest sediment volume value and the time of rinsing assumed for 14 days. The volume of the sand trap from the Air Alas Water Dam is 315 m3, with dimensions of the sand trap that is 98 m long, 7 m wide, and 1.5 m deep, and the slope of the sand trap is 0.09%. Therefore, the conclusion of this research is with the dimensions of the sand trap planned based on the volume of sediment obtained, the sand trap needs to be rinsed for 14 days so that the sediment does not accumulate in the sand trap.
