Abstract

Seluma regency is the once of region which produce rice, in this area the population cultivates agricultural land from the utilization of one of the weirs in Seluma district namely the Air Alas dam. In the water treatment there are many problems such as the presence of cracked canal walls, growth of plants in the canal, leakage and leakage of the canal. Therefore, needed to analysis efficiency and losses of water in tertiary channel irrigation area of Air Alas. The purpose of this study is to calculate the value of efficiency and water loss due to evaporation and seepage in the irrigation area of Air Alas. The methodology used to calculate the efficiency and loss analysis due to evaporation and water seepage is the method of inflow and outflow by using a curret meter. The data used in this study are flow velocity data and evaporation data from BMKG. The results obtained from this study are the average efficiency value of tertiary channels of 74.37% with a percentage of water loss of 25.63%. This result is not in accordance with theoretical efficiency because the value obtained is smaller than the standard value of efficiency of 80%.There are several other factors that cause the occurrence losses of water that is evaporation and seepage. The value of water loss due to the biggest evaporation occurs along the main channel at A.Kr 6 kn which is 7 x 10-6 m3/s. The water loss value due to the biggest secretion was at A.Kr 7 kn channel with a value is 1,18 x 10-5 mm/day.
