Abstract

Concrete is a mixture of portland cement or other hydraulic cement, fine aggregates, coarse aggregates and water, with or without additives that form solid masses. The objective of this research was to determine the value of tensile strength of concrete and teh variation of fiber on concrete that will experience the highest tensile strength. The method of manufacture and testing of concrete tensile strength refers to SNI 03-2834-2000 and SNI 03-2491-2002. The total of concretes is 85 pieces that is 5 pieces of normal concrete and 80 pieces of fiber concrete with high size 15 cm and the diameter 30 cm. Variations the length of pineapple leaf fiber are 2 cm, 3 cm, 4 cm, and 5 cm with presentage addition 2,5%, 5%, 7,5% and 10% to the volume of test object. A concrete mixture used water cement ratio 0,5 and a slump of 60-100 mm. The concrete soaked for 27 days and test of concrete conducted at was 28 days. The highest value of tensile strength occurred in fiber length 2 cm on variation 10% of 2,69 MPa and decrease ratio to the normal concrete of 4,77%. The smallest value of tensile strength occured in fiber length 5 cm on variation 2,5% of 2,18 MPa with decrease ratio to the normal concrete of 22,81%.
