Abstract

The objective of this research was to explore students' difficulties in writing an exposition text in eleven grade students at SMA N 1 Pasemah Air Keruh. The population was 196 students and the samples were 30 students taken randomly. This research used the quantitative descriptive method. The instruments were writing test and interview. The respondents for interview were students who got low score in the test. The results of the research showed that: 1) 53.58% of students got high score and 46.42% got low score in the test. 2) Factors that caused students got low scores in writing were low nature of writing, lack of motivation, inadequate of time, lack of practice, lack of teacher feedback, lack of grammar and vocabulary and afraid of making mistakes. In conclusion, although many students had qualified to write an exposition text. Some still needed remedies in this respect. It was recommended that the English teacher should pay more attention to students writing and find more suitable method or technique of teaching to increase their enthusiasm for learning. Besides, the students should study harder about writing exposition text. Key Words: Writing Difficulties, Exposition text, Eleven Grade Students
