Abstract

Keywords: Perception, Group work, Learning process The objectives of this research were to find out the English students‟ perception of group work activities in learning process and to investigate the correlaion between students‟ achievement and their perception. The population was 98 students from fourth semester of English Education Study Program Bengkulu University in the academic year 2022/2023 and the population was used as the total samples. Research instrument used for collecting the data were questionnaire contained five aspects of group work (advantages of group work, effectiveness of group work, implementation of group work, preference of group work, and factor espousng group work). The collected data were analyzed by using descriptive quantitative methods and SPSS ver. 20. The results of the research showed that most of students (73.2%) had positive perception of group work activities. For the advantages of group work the total average score was 3.12; for its effectiveness was 2.74; for its implementation was 2.88; for its preference was 2.84; and for its factor espousing was 2.89. Nevertheless, there was still some students (26.8%) had negative perception of group work activities. As the most students‟ perception of group work was positive, it was recommended that group work should be implemented more frequently in the teaching learning process.
