Abstract

This research was aimed at investigating the rhetorical structure on the research article conclusion in national journals written by national authors. The purpose of the study was to analyze and identify the moves and steps in conclusion section. Afterwards, this research used checklist and documentation technique in taking data. There were 40 national journals taken as sample in this research. The instrument of this research was text analysis by using checklist of moves and steps in research articles conclusion of national research articles. Based on the results of the research, it was found that the move and steps used in High rank journals could be categorized into Conventional. This had been proven by the result which showed that from the three moves had been used on writers’ journals, there were two moves used dominantly, they were Move 1 which got 75% and Move 3 which got 73%. Meanwhile, it was only Move 2 which was categorized into Optional because its percentage was only 35%. This meant that most of writers in high rank journals liked to share their summary of the study and also deduction from the research in order to give more clear explanation of the results the writers got from the study they had done before. Meanwhile, the move and steps used in Low rank journals could be categorized into Optional category. Then, compared with the results of high rank journal in the case of using Moves in their conclusion part of the research was more complete than the writers did on the low rank journals.
