Abstract

This study aims to determine the types of language function and the dominant function of visual communication used in Adidas advertisements on Instagram. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative, using checklist tables as instruments. The subjects of this study were 20 advertisements posted on the Adidas Instagram account. The study results: 1) the dominant language functions are poetic function 35%, referential function 34%, and directive function 28% 2) the dominant function of visual communication used in this advertisement is visual communication as presentation with 53%. Based on the Dominant language function and visual communication used in Adidas advertisements, this function helps give product presentations and information.
