Abstract

This study was a descriptive qualitative study. The aim of this study was to observe and describe the moral values in Toy Story 3 movie according to curriculum 2013. The instrument used in this study was observation protocol and documentation. The primary source of data in this study was Toy Story 3 movie andthe secondary source of data were internet, book, essay, article, journal, and other related sources. The data were collected through four steps, including 1) watching the Toy Story 3 movie daily, 2) printing out certain dialogues in certain scenes which relate to moral value, 3) quoting the dialogues that relates to the moral values, 4) classifying the scenes of Toy Story 3 movie into each moral value. The result showed that there were 13 kind of moral values according to the moral values in curriculum 2013. The moral values were 1) honest, 2) tolerance, 3) hard work, 4) independent, 5) appreciating achievement, 6) friendly, 7) love of peace, 8) care of environment, 9) social care, 10) responsibility, 11) creative, 12) curiosity, and 13) love reading. Therefore, the researcher concluded that the Toy Story 3 movie can be used a medium in building character education. Kata kunci: movie, curriculum 2013, moral value
