Abstract

This research aimed to find out the students’ attitudes toward the use of project- based learning model in ELT project classroom. The design of this research is qualitative. The subject of this research were the sixth semester English Department students of UNIB, the total numbers of the students were 39 students which has been obtained by using random sampling method. The data were collected by using the questionnaire and interview. The questionnaire was adapted from Tran and Tran (2020). This research uses the table to showed the result of students’ attitudes toward the use of project-based learning model. The result of this research showed that most of the students have a good attitude in the use of project-based learning model they are motivated, enjoy and interesting to ruined the classroom. It revealed from the score of the questionnaire result and the answers of interview section. Then the majority of the students mentioned that they are enthusiastic to follow the classroom rules and increase their critical thinking also has the positive impact to their learning process. In addition, despite having a high score on the questionnaire, but the data from interview answers in this study found that this model was did not very helpful in improving & practicing students' overall speaking skills. For this reason, it is recommended for future researchers to find out more about the reasons for how students' attitudes towards this learning model are especially in the behavioral aspect.
