Abstract
This study aims to find figurative language items from 12 types of figurative language base from Arvius (2003), Barnet, Burto, & Cain (2008), and Dasylva & Jegede (2013) in 4 different character theme songs. This study uses a qualitative research methods, data collection techniques through triangulation, and inductive data analysis which is base from Prof. Dr. Sugiyono (2015) qualitative research results emphasize importance rather than generalization. The difficulties in sorting all the lyrics using this data collecting method by separating from which is this and that already a complicated task due to how similar some of the items that represent the types of figurative. some researchers do not numeric the result or do further analysis of every line in a song or poetry due to lacking evidence that the lines in the song and part of the figurative language itself not everyone uses the same founding method to sort them. There were only 11 figurative languages found which are simile, personification, metonymy, apostrophe, hyperbole, synecdoche, irony, oxymoron, antithesis, alliteration, and paradox. The most used is Hyperbole with 26 used while the fewer is similes with 1 used. However, there is one figurative language that is not included which is a metaphor. Different methodologies in lexical cohesion materials or different subjects and using this study only as a reference. Keywords: Figurative Language, Song, Character
