Abstract

This research aimed to determine whether there was an effect of using videos in English lessons on students' listening comprehension. In this research, the researcher used quantitative pre-experiment with pre-test and post-test designs. This research was conducted at SMAN 3 Bengkulu City. The selection of research subjects was chosen from one of the 11 classes that total of eleven classes at SMAN 3 Bengkulu City, the chosen class was class XI A. The researcher used that the class had been given access to researcher to conduct research at the school. The researcher conducted 8 treatment sessions, where in each session the researcher observed the progress of students' comprehension. Before the researcher analyzed the data using statistic test, namely Hypothesis test and N-Gain test. The researcher did the descriptive analysis pre test and post - test to find out the level of students before and after being given treatment by increasing the category level of the scale. The researcher analyzed the data using hypothesis test and N-Gain test. The data analysis results showed finding of the N-Gain Test, there were 6 students with a percentage of 16.66 % in the "High" category. there was 4 student with a percentage of 11.1% in the "Low" category. Overall, the average N�Gain score was 0.5363 and fell into the "Medium" improvement category, with a percentage of 53.63%. To sum up, using videos in English learning for students' listening comprehension produced a good effect on students' learning outcomes. Keywords : Video Learning Media, Listening Comprehension
