Abstract
The aim of this study is to analyze women's language features to understand the extent to which these stereotypes have changed. This will help in understanding how social norms influence the way women speak and how public perceptions of women can be affected by their communication styles. This study is descriptive qualitative research to describe the women's language features that can be found in the data source. The data source used is the Barbie (2023) movie, a fantasy comedy movie directed by Greta Gerwig from a screenplay she wrote with Noah Baumbach. The research used an observation table as an instrument to collect data. After the data was collected, it was analyzed using Lakoff's (1975) theory of women's language features. The results of the study show: The main character used almost all women's language features except for precise color terms, hypercorrect grammar, and superpolite forms. Also, the dominant women's language feature used by the main character was emphatic stress, indicating that the main character is dominant, confident, and assertive. Keywords: Sociolinguistic, Gender Language, Women Language Feature, Barbie (2023)
