Abstract
The purpose of this research is to determine the types of deixis used by the major characters in the movie script Jumanji: The Next Level, based on Levinson's (1983) theory. Descriptive quantitative methods were used in this research. The object of this research is the movie script Jumanji: The Next Level by Chris Van Allsburg. Data was collected using an observation checklist. The data collected was analysed using statistical formulae. The results of the research show that the researcher found all the types of deixis proposed by Levinson (1983). Person deixis (66.2%), time deixis (3.76%), place deixis (8.20%), discourse deixis (15.84%) and social deixis (6.15%) were found in the text of Jumanji: The Next Level. From these results it can be concluded that the major characters in the movie often use persona deixis and discourse deixis. This is because the major characters in the dialogue often refer to other characters and self with pronouns and because the story in this movie tells about the experiences of the major characters who go on adventures in a fantasy world with a little action and comedy, which makes this movie funny. Keyword: Deixis, Jumanji: The Next Level
