Abstract

“Legowo” planting system and P-Stater application on high elevation rice. The experiment was conducted in Koto Gaek village (Solok Regency- 900 m asl) from July to December 2006, aimed at increasing yield through increasing plant population by “Legowo” system as well as increasing phosphorus application eficiency through dipping method. Five treatments; four plant population with P-dipping aplication and farmers practice were arranged in RCBD with four replications. The plant population tested were 333.250 hill ha (legowo 2:1), 300.000 hill ha (legowo 4:1), 285.700 hill ha -1 (legowo 6:1) and 277.750 hill ha -1 -1 -1 (legowo 8:1). The rate of fertilizer used was 150 kg urea, 50 kg KCl, on 20 kg SP-36 ha for legowo system; and 150 kg urea, 50 kg KCl and 100 kg SP-36 ha -1 -1 for farmers practice. All KCl, all SP-36, and two-third of urea were applied at planting time. At legowo planting system, SP-36 was aplied by dipping seedling roots into 2% of SP-36 in mud at planting time. At farmers practice, SP-36 was broadcasted. The results showed that legowo system and dipping P application increased rice yield and P eficiency. Rice yield in legowo and P-dipping system ranged from 5,08 to 6,39 ton ha-1, whereas in farmers practice only 4,69 ton ha-1. Yield increase of legowo 2:1, 4:1 legowo 6:1 and 8:1, 35,5, 12,8 and 8,3%.
