The population consisted of six classes with 248 students. The sample was 25% of the population, the total number was 62. They were taken by using proporsional random technique. The data were collected by using a closed questionnaire. The questionnaire had fourty one items. It involved eight strategies to manage anxiety. The data were analized by using weighted mean formula. The results of the study show that the second year students of SMAN 1 Bengkulu use the eight strategies offered in different frequency. The most frequently used strategies are avoid illogical idea and self awareness, while the least frequently used strategies are self-talk and practice relaxation techniques. Generally, It can be concluded that the second year students of SMAN 1 Bengkulu Town in academic year of 2006/2007 only sometimes use one or more strategies ( of the eight strategies) to manage their anxious feeling. It means that the students may or may not use the eight strategies in managing their anxious feeling; they might use their own strategies (out of the eight strategies offered in this study) to manage their anxiety.
