Abstract

The general objective of this study was to describe the teachers’ roles in increasing the quality of class management at state senior high school of Megang Sakti Musi Rawas district. The specific objectives of this research were to describe; a) the teachers’ roles in increasing the quality of class management planning; b) the teachers’ roles in increasing the quality of the class management activity, (c) the teachers’ roles in increasing the quality of class management control, (d) the problematic factors in the effort of increasing the quality of class management, and (e) the teachers’ efforts in overcoming the obstructing factors in increasing the quality of class management. This research used a qualitative descriptive method. The respondents of this research were school principal, teachers, counsellors, and students. The techniques for collecting the data were interview, observation, and documentation. The results of this study show that the teachers’ roles in increasing the quality of class management have been done by making planning program, managing the class, implementing a supervising program which is done by the school principal and an authorized supervisor, finding some ways to overcome the available obstructed factors, and doing some evaluations toward the students’ achievement. There were three main factors which became the obstructing factors in increasing the quality of the class management. Those three factors were teacher, student, and facility
