Abstract

The Independence of the auditors can enhance the credibility of corporate financial statements and assist investors to make rational decisions in the stock market. The ability to provide high quality audit services to be an important focus that must be considered by the Public Accountant prior to the presence of foreign accountants in Indonesia is expected to encourage competition in the local audit market, so it does not make personnel displaced local accountant, if the quality of services that they provide are not inferior to foreign labor. Therefore, the selection of auditors and auditor switch will not only affect the quality of the audit, but will also affect the decisions made by investors and other market participants. The data used is a data company listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) 2006-2010. The study is a variable earnings response coefficeint (ERC), auditor switch, audit quality, and the control variables are market to book ratio, opinions, and abbeta. By using multiple regression with SPSS 16 application, this study aims to determine how to respond of investors reaction to audit quality and auditor switch in Indonesia. These results indicate that both for positive unexpected earnings and negative unexpected earnings, audit quality and auditor switch has no effect on the ERC. This indicates that investors do not notice a decrease in gain or profit the company reported negative for investment decision-making
