Abstract

Purpose of this research is to determine how to shape the pattern of capital, to shape institutional trading system that has been there on the traditional fishermen in Kelurahan Pasar Bengkulu, which starts from production to marketing of the catch of fish so as to formulate appropriate strategies for traditional fishermen in Pasar Bengkulu. Data use in this research sourced from the primary data, obtained directly from respondents through the interview process, initial observation, until the filling questionnaire. And secondary data taken from documentation the relevant agencies. The analytical method used is descriptive analysis method with the technique of collecting, presenting, and summarizing data from research result. From the research, the traditional fishermen in Pasar Bengkulu is divided into three, namely the fishermen who go to sea with its lancang’s, the fishermen who go to sea with its lancang’s and lend lancang’s to other fishermen, and the fishermen who borrow another fishermen's lancang and just rely on their own fishing net tools. Capital has a major influence in the process of marketing the traditional fishermen in Pasar Bengkulu, because most of them depend on the landlord in induk semang, and this will impact on the marine form of marketing their catches, which must be sold directly to the induk semang with the price set by the induk semang himself, so that the position of the fishermen are price taker. However, the traditional fishermen in Pasar Bengkulu does not close the opportunity for retailers who want to buy fish directly to them and the people around (end consumer), with a limited number. Fish catch is sold in the form of a wet fish, without any further processing, are sold directly as presumptuous landed, so-called fish market. Regarding the institutions, be it social institutional relationship between fishermen and economic institutions on traditional fishing in Pasar Bengkulu is still fairly active despite the expected traditional fishing is not as expected.
