Abstract

The purpose of this study is determine why the farmers of agricultural land conversion to oil palm plantations of rice and to determine the condition of the region in terms of farmers income, leisure, water supply and production after the conversion of rice land to oil palm plantations in the Village of the Desa Pasar Talo District of Ilir Talo Regency Seluma. Source of data used in this study is secondary data and primary data, a data taken from the questionnaires and direct interviews with responders in the field as many as 30 people are farmers who do the conversion of rice land into oil palm plantations in the village of Pasar Talo. This research is using descriptive method. The results showed that reasons for farmers rice land conversion to oil palm plantations include: income, the risk of crop failure, and the dry land. Conditions of the area after a land-uses include: a. The positive impact of income and there is free time. b. The negative impact of water availability and changes in production in the Village of Pasar Talo District Ilir Talo Regency Seluma.
