Abstract

This study aims to determine influent internal and external factors in formulating appropriate strategic alternatives, and determine the priority strategies that can be applied in the development of beef cattle farms in North Bengkulu. This research takes place in the area of North Bengkulu. The basic method of this research is descriptive method. The researcher uses three-phase method in analyzing data, which consists of: data entry (the input stage) with the IFE matrix and EFE matrix, the integration phase (the matching stage) with IE matrix and SWOT matrix, and the decision stage (the decision stage) with matrix QSPM (Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix) and AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) is used in a matter of weighting. The results of this research showed that the alternative strategy of development of beef cattle farms in North Bengkulu district are: regional development centers and production of beef cattle breeding; institutional development through farmer groups and partnerships container; development resource capability farmers through increased knowledge and skills; optimization of functions of financial institutions to improve access to capital; optimization of land utilization; optimizing the use of technology to improve the quality and quantity of beef cattle production; increase production and improve working relationships among business actors in the cultivation, processing and marketing of products; recruitment and increasing the role of livestock extension workers, and increasing promotion for strengthen the marketing network. The priority strategies that can be applied in developing beef cattle farms in North Bengkulu district are: increasing production and improving cooperation among business actors in the cultivation, processing and marketing of products; increasing promotion to strengthen the marketing network, and developing the area of cattle breeding and production.
