Abstract

The great influence of the livestock subsector on the lives of the Indonesian society is inseparable from the basic functions of the livestock subsector itself in compliance with food and nutrition Indonesian society, especially for the animal protein needs. The quail farm as producers of quail eggs can be used as an alternative to meet the increasing demand. Additionally, the quail egg price is competitive with chicken’s and other poultry eggs. The research was conducted in the city of Bengkulu on March 8th to April 8th. The objective of this research was to determine the efficiency and the income of quail farm. Method of determining respondent was purposive with the consideration that there were some quail breeders in the city of Bengkulu, which were 30 people. The data collected in this research consisted of primary data and secondary data. The data analysis technique used was the analysis of income which was done by reducing the revenue total revenue with total cost. The determining of the efficiency of quail egg farm business, the researcher used analytical R / C ratio. It was important to know characteristic of Quail Breeders first, which was useful to know the status of the breeder. On the general part of the characteristics of the Quail breeder, it was discussed the age, education level, business experience, and number of dependents. From the analysis of income it was known that the average income earned by quail breeders was Rp 4.085.473/month, while business efficiency (R / C ratio) quail breeder was 1.95, which mean the business was profitable and worth business.
