Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of performance of agricultural instructor in Lebong District, and some factors that related with it, like characteristics and motivations. Characteristics that measured were age, formal education, non-formal education, dependents and income. Measured motivation is internal and external motivation. This study uses descriptive quantitative approach. Data was collected through direct interviews with respondents using a prepared list of questions. Data analysis using the Spearman Rank correlation with assistance of computer programs Microsoft Excel 2007 and SPSS for Windows version 15. The results showed that most of the agricultural instructor in Lebong being aged (35-45 years), it has a long service life (26-38 years), educated scholar, obtain enough training (197-315 hours), had 3-4 dependents and moderate-income (2.81 to 3.5 million Rupiahs). Motivation of agricultural instructor in Lebong were moderate (score 2,28). Performance of agricultural instructor in Lebong were moderate (score 2.04). Characteristics of agricultural instructor in Lebong consist of age, formal education and non-formal education significantly correlated with performance. While the characteristics of family dependents and income are not obviously related to performance. Internal motivation and external agricultural extension significantly correlated with performance.
