Abstract

Abstract One Category of child’s right in the convention on the right of the child is development right where in it including the right to have both formal or informal education, time to have a rest and playing. As a national hope, children’s rights need to be struggled including the development right. The phenomenon is happening right now is there are many kids who helped their parents work especially during school hours, recess and playing time, one of them is the involvement of children looking for coal on the coast of Bengkulu beach. This research aims to know the form of violation of the child’s development right in coastal area of the Bengkulu city. The specification of this research is a descriptive analytical by using empirical approach/juridical sociological, primary data obtained from field research by using the questionnaire and the interview to the the informant/ respondant, while secondary data obtained through the study of librarianship. Analysis in this research uses kualitatif analysis. The result shows that the violation to the child’s development right which happened in RT 7 Beringin Raya District because there was no socialization from authorized institution concerning UU No. 23 Tahun 2002 about protection of the children especially the rights of the children. It looks like the government does not care about the phenomenon. Beside that, the parents’ mindset deem that children have an obligation to help their parents, so it is not a violation to the children’s right. Keywords: Development right, children
