Abstract

The overall goal of this experiment was to establish a technology for growing potato at the low elevation. There "Yere three groups of experiment with its own ) separate objective. The first experiment was to find out the effective concentration of each retardant ill promoting tuber formation at 30/20 "C. Four retardants (Ancymidol, Paclobutrazol, CCC, and Coumarin) were individually applied tc potato explants grown in vitro at different regimes: Ancyrnidol (0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 ppm), Pac1obutrazol (0, 1000, 2000, 3000, and 4000 pprn), CCC (0, 300, 600, 900, 1200 ppm), and Coumarin (0,25,50, 100,200 ppm). The second experiment was meant to study the performance of effective concentration of each retardant at the different temperature regimes (30/20, 30/25, 35/25, and 35/30 °C). The third experiment was to study whether combining two retardants at their effective concentration could improve plant performance under high temperature (35/25 and 35/30 °C). The results of the first experiment showed that each retardant had different effective concentration (4 ppm for Ancymidol, 4000 ppm for Pac1obutrazol, 1200 ppm CCC, and 50 ppm). The second experiment found that only CCC and Anycmidol was still producing microtuber, the number and size of the tubers were decreasing due to the increase in temperature incubation (35/25 and 35/30 °C). The third experiment showed that combining two retardants did not show effect of synergism of the combined retardant.
