Abstract
The aims of this study were to know the role of earthworms (Pontoscolex corethrurus Fr. Mull) population toward the growth and production of the organic plant Ipomoea reptans Poir. The study included some activities such as providing and rearing earthworms, making plant media, providing Ipomoea reptans Poir seeds, planting and observing the growth and productivity of Ipomoea reptans Poir. The design of the research was Complete Randomized Design with 4 treatments and 6 replications. The treatments were the earthworms population which consisted of V0= control (without earth worms) V1= 10 earth worms/poly bag V2= 20 earthworms/poly bag V3= 30 earthworms/poly bag. The result showed that the role of earthworm’s population was statistically significant difference on the height of plant, while the role of the earthworms on other parameter were not statistically significant difference. The highest of average height respectively were 62.33 cm (V3), 50.33 cm (V2), 43.83 cm (V1), and 42.5 cm (V0), while highest of leaves respectively were 70 leaves (V3), 69 leaves (V2), 65 leaves (V1), and 60 leaves (V0). The highest of fresh biomass respectively were 6.75 g (V3), 6.3 g (V2), 5.41 g (V1), and 5.25 g (V0). The highest of fresh biomass of root respectively were 2.55 g (V3), 2,5 g (V2), 2.083 g (V1), and 1.92 g (V0).
