Abstract
Hydraulic Pumping Unit (HPU) is a pump that uses a hydraulic system, which at the time of
operation may result in 0.1135 fluid (water, oil, and gas). This type of pump was in use in 2009 as a
replacement dragon pump that needed large power to use it. According to data obtained from
known fields, diameter (d) is 0.0762 m, length L is 1.324 m, p1 is 37.5 psi, μliquid is 0.001 kg /m.s, μgas
is 0.000018 kg/m.s, Qliquid is 0.03407 m, Qgas is 0.007950 m, ρliquid is 998 kg /m, and ρgas is 1.20
kg.m3
, and Z is 6 m. Then the calculation of the value of headloss, enter the known value of the
pump power (Ps) is 50 HP, power off the pump (Pd) is 35 HP, pump inlet pressure (p1) is 37,5 psi,
the pump exit pressure (p2) is 50 Psi, suction pipe diameter (d1) is 0.0762 m, the diameter of the pipe
exit (d2) is 0.0635 m, flow rate (Q) is 0,00189 m. Suction pipe in order to get the speed (Vs) is 0.208
m/s, and the exit pipe velocity (Vd) is 0,303 m/s. For the results obtained from the calculation of the
total headloss major (hf) of 1,248 m, and the total headloss minor (hm) of 0,04486 m. Thus obtained
headloss on the pump type Hydraulic Pumping Unit (HPU) is equal to 1.292 m. According to
results, it can be concluded that the type of Hydraulic Pumping Units(HPU) used are ideal because
the value of the pump head is larger than the total headloss value.
