Abstract
Pengecoran alumunium dari bahan limbah piston diteliti untuk
mengevaluasi besar kadar bentonit yang terbaik bila dicampur dengan pasir lokal
yang di ambil dari Pantai Sungai Hitam di Kota Bengkulu. Variasi kadar bentonit
yang di berikan adalah 7.5%, 8%, 8.5%, dan 9%. Analisis porositas dan kekuatan
impak dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi kadar bentonit mana yang cocok untuk jenis
pasir tersebut. Pasir-bentonit 8.5% memberikan porositas coran yang terbaik atau
terendah (0.06%-0.12%) sedangkan pada kadar yang lain porositas berkisar pada
(0.03%-0.23%). Kekuatan impak yang terbaik berkisar pada 242.175 J/m2
sedangkan pada kadar yang lain berkisar pada 174.750 J/m2
.
