Based on heat transfer properties, materials can be categorized into conductor and insulator. Conductor is material that can transfer heat, while insulator is worse material to transfer heat. To know whether a material is conductor or insulator, its thermal conductivity property has to be measured. Thermal conductivity property data are needed in engineering applications such as heat exhanger, air conditioning system, building wall and pipe insulation. Thermal conductivity data of some materials are available on heat transfer books, material science books and other handbooks. Nevertheless, some of the materials available on the market have no thermal conductivity data, so that we need to measure this property before use these materials. Measurement device of thermal conductivity that is designed and made in this research is tested in an experiment. From the experiment, we get variation of temperature distributions and thermal conductivity value of cast iron, brass and stainless steel AISI304 as specimen. From experiment, thermal conductivity average value of cast iron is 73,48 W/(mC) with reference value of 70 - 80 W/(moC), brass is 163,27 W/(moC) with reference vale of 109-160W/(m o C) and Stainless Steel AISI304 is 15.58 W/(moC) with reference value of 14,9-16,2 W/(moC). Thermal conductivity experiment data of cast iron and stainless steel is close to the literature data.
