Abstract

ABSTRACT
DC-DC converter is one of the simplest and most widely used converters in
controlled power applications such as cell phones, laptops, communication
systems, and many more devices. This study aims to design and analyze the
performance of a buck converter with different types of compensation. The
compensation used in this research is Type 2 Compensation, Type 3
compensation, and PID compensation. The overall system with the converter and
the compensator is simulated using Matlab-Simulink. The designs are validated
using the control loop transfer function and analyzed in the frequency domain
using Bode plots. The simulation results on Matlab-Simulink show that the output
voltage generated from the buck converter with type 2 compensation is 4,944
volts with a ripple of 0,97 volts, an overshoot of 9,693 volts, and a settling time of
3,502 ms. The type 3 compensation output voltage is 5,005 volts with a ripple of
0,086 volts, overshoot of 7,025 volts, and a settling time of 0,411 ms, while in
PID compensation, the output voltage is 5,001 volts with a ripple of 0,123 volts,
5,397 volts overshoot and a settling time of 0,232 ms. PID compensation has the
best characteristics of the three compensations used, with the fastest settling time
and small overshoot. The results of the resulting bode plot show that the
compensation used is stable.
