Abstract
This study was carried out to investigate how the students of international classes
of Management Department in Universitas Bengkulu used Google translate in
helping the students to understand the material that written in English.
Specifically, it sought to identify the use of google translate in general,
assignment and text comprehension. The study also investigated the students‟
attitude toward the google translate covering the three aspects of attitude;
behavioral, cognitive, and affective aspects. The method used in this study was
mixed method that combine the quantitative and qualitative data method and
elaborated with explanatory research design. The data were gathered through
questionnaires and Focused Group Discussion. The result of the study showed that
the students of international classes of management departments had very high
tendency in using the google in word level, and they also had high tendency on
discourse level in working assignment and journal. In students attitude, the
students had a positive views toward the google translate, it was stated that google
translate helped a lot. Students enjoyed using the google translate because they
could understand the material that written in English and complete faster their
assignment. However, there were still some negative effects of Google translate, it
was stated that google translate also leading the students to laziness and brought
dependency.
