Abstract

This research is a research and devel opment wit h t he ai m of devel opi ng an
English syllabus based on a i ntegrated appr oach ai med f or bi ol ogy educati on
st udents at Bengkul u University. Needs anal ysis is used i n t his st udy t o deter mi ne
the Englishlanguage needs of bi ol ogy educati on students. The i nstruments used i n
this st udy were questi onnaire and i nterview. The research popul ati on was bi ol ogy
educati on st udents at the Bengkul u Uni versity, bi ol ogy educati on lect urers,
English l ect urers, and bi ol ogy t eacher from S MA Muha mmadi yah 4 Kot a
Bengkul u and S MAN 8 Kot a Bengkul u as stakehol ders. The first sa mpli ng
techni que was rando m sa mpli ng f or 98 bi ol ogy educati on st udents, t he second
techni que used t ot al sampli ng f or 1 bi ol ogy l ect urer, 1 English l ect urer and 2
bi ol ogy t eachers. The result of t he dat a anal ysis showed t hat readi ng- writing skill
is t he skill most needed by bi ol ogy educati on st udents. Based on t he result of t he
dat a anal ysis, t he researcher desi gned a syllabus based on a i ntegrated appr oach
that had been vali dated by t he vali dat or.
