reading comprehension and to describe the implementation of English teachers’
strategies in teaching reading comprehension at SMAN in Bengkulu City. The
participants of this research were 31 certified English teachers at SMAN in
Bengkulu City. This research used mix-method research design. The data were
obtained through a questionnaire and an interview. The questionnaire consist of
28 statements with five answer choice: strongly disagree, disagree, neutral, agree,
strongly agree that was designed in the form of sheets. Then, the researcher did
the direct interview that focused on the implementation the strategies that English
teachers used in teaching reading comprehension. The result of this study showed
that (1) the English teachers at SMAN in Bengkulu City mostly used SQ3R
strategy (27,78). (2) The results showed that in implementing the strategies for
teaching reading, teachers applied and devided strategies into three stages of
teaching reading comprehension namely; preparing the class, giving examples of
the text and facilitating, and then resuming and evaluating the learning. It seems
that the strategies applied were very effective in teaching reading comprehension
in schools. This is proven by the motivation of students, students' attention span,
and the ease of teachers in the teaching and learning process. With the results
