Abstract
This study analyzed Retno Marsudi’s speeches on the situation in Palestine. This
research was aimed to find out the discursive strategies used by Retno Marsudi in
her speeches. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The data were
utterances in the form of Retno Marsudi’s words, phrases, and sentences. The
results of this research showed that Retno used eleven discursive strategies in her
speeches, which are norm expression, consensus, presupposition, lexicalization,
burden, counterfactual, number game, evidentiality, and victimization. Norm
expression as the most dominant strategy which appeared 20 times. Retno
Marsudi represent ideologies of Indonesia about justice and humanity through her
speeches.
